Electrical Installation In Retaining Wall

Even though we had an addendum in the contract to have the contractor install the conduits in the retaining wall, it seemed like they were getting forgotten and we wanted to make sure they got installed before the wall was backfilled and before it got too difficult to install.  The masons got 7 courses completed yesterday.

We weren't sure how many courses they were going to go, but got confirmation that there would be one or two more.

We laid out the box locations and had to make a couple of changes on the fly due to the fact that part of the wall hasn't been completed.  This made me delete the future light box that I was going to have in this location.

My dad had most of the materials we needed, already, but we needed to make a Lowe's run to get 30' of conduit and some fittings.

We planned, and re-planned a few times, but we got everything installed.  We were going to put a junction box in the flower planter, but due to the construction (with several of the blocks being filled) we decided to place the junction box about 24" from the house, and we ran a spare conduit into the planter in case we want a receptacle for a fountain or something out there.

Since they are placing another course or two on top of what is existing we decided to place the boxes right on top of the highest course and then the masons can cut out a piece of the next layer of block that they will be laying and the boxes will be set right in the wall.

We also pulled strings through all of the conduits.  We started with the fish, but the vacuum was much quicker and easier so we finished with that.

The installation wasn't too bad, but it took a good day of work.
