Plumbing Rough In

It has been almost a week since we last posted, but unfortunately not much has happened :(

Today the plumber was here doing rough in plumbing.  They are using PEX, instead of copper, which I didn't realize.  Not sure if it is a big deal, but I have only ever used copper.  Copper is obviously alot more expensive than PEX, so I am sure that is why PEX is being used.

The GC wasn't here to meet the plumber this morning and didn't really seem to be aware of what was required.  Luckily, I stayed and walked them into the basement, showed where the shutoffs were and explained the tankless water heater system that we want installed.

I requested they don't make any penetrations through the exterior block wall and they agreed, and didn't want to penetrate the block wall anyway since it is easier to penetrate the wooden rim joist.

I then explained the shower to them and left them my drawing that I created back in October.  They knew nothing about the diverters or rain head or anything.

I forgot to tell them that the tankless water heater requires 3/4" gas and 3/4" water lines.  I also forgot to ask them to install shutoff valves in the basement for all fixtures.  I texted the GC about it and asked him to let them know.  I also wanted to know when they needed the water heater.  I didn't get any response and eventually called and left a message.  He texted me back to get it as soon as possible and that "I threw him a curve ball with the shower stuff".

I texted him back the text from the addendum that added all the devices that I had on the drawing for an extra fee.  Interesting how things that we added into the contract keep getting forgotten.

Always have to pay attention!
